Milo's 3rd Birthday

Today was Milo's 3rd birthday. We started the day with a few gifts at home, met Milo's cousins for some games at Chuck E Cheese, and then came back home for lunch, cake, a dinosaur hunt, and presents. What a great day! Thanks to everyone who celebrated with us. Happy Birthday, Buddy!

Winter is Here!

After temps in the upper 60s last week, this is what we woke up to on Saturday morning. It appears winter has arrived!

Good thing I went shopping last weekend!

A favorite activity of the afternoon was going down the slide and

North Shore Scenic Railroad

Tod went on a golf trip with some buddies for the weekend so I wanted to do something fun with Milo. I have been missing Duluth lately, so I decided we'd take a trip up there for the day. We met up with my parents and took a ride on the North Shore Scenic Railroad. Afterwards we headed to Canal Park for lunch and just as we were getting there, a huge ship was going under the Aerial Lift Bridge and through the canal. Perfect timing and so cool to see!

Hungry Hungry Hippos

Remember this game? It was one of my favorites as a kid. Bought it this week and broke it out this morning. Milo loves it!

Trip to Montana

Last weekend we took a family trip to visit the Larkins in Whitefish, Montana. This was Milo's first airplane ride as a toddler (he went on 3 airplanes total!), and he just loved it! While Tod and Scott played in a golf tournament on Friday, Stef, Tyler, Milo and I explored the playgrounds of Whitefish and had a great lunch. Milo also got to meet Annemarie and Kelly Peppmeier. After some frustration that Tyler couldn't talk to him, Milo asked Annemarie, "hey girl...do you talk?" So funny!

Saturday we took the gondola up to the top of Big Mountain for some stunning views of the valley and of Glacier National Park in the distance. Milo and Tod also went down the alpine slide--fun! Tyler's Grandpa Doug and Grandma Christine were nice enough to watch the boys Saturday night so we could enjoy an adults-only dinner. It was yummy and so much fun! Thanks again to Stef and Scott for a great weekend! Let's do it again soon!

Hockey!

Over Labor Day weekend we found some Milo-sized hockey equipment at a rummage sale. After getting hit in the face with a (soft) ball playing hockey with Tod this past weekend, he wanted to put his new equipment on. Doesn't he look tough?

This is very ironic. One of Milo's favorite phrases when playing baseball is, "stand up like a baseball player." He usually says this when an adult has been tirelessly playing with him for what seems like forever and sits down to take a little break. When I saw him sitting down like this in goal, I told him to stand up like a hockey player. He didn't get the joke.

Family Time

Yesterday we took Milo to Como Zoo and Comotown. A beautiful day and so much fun!

In other news, a few weeks ago, Tod and I got to enjoy a little adults-only getaway with our friends Scott and Stef, who we haven't seen since Milo was just a few months old. We were invited to a wedding in Green Bay so we spent a couple days before the wedding in Door County, Wisconsin. We had a great time catching up with Scott and Stef, and Door County was amazing! The wedding in Green Bay (at Lambeau Field!) was a lot of fun as well. It was a fun little vacation.

While we were away, Milo split his his time with my sisters and Tod's family. He got to do lots of fun things, but one story in particular is worth mentioning. As the story goes, after picking up Milo from school one day, Meghan and Alex took him over to their house for dinner. Rookies that they are, they did not pack an extra set of clothes. And while Milo is pretty much potty trained, he does have the occasional accident, and of course had to have one that evening. No clothes to change him into, so what did they do? They got an old pair of Meg's basketball shorts and cinched them together with a chip clip! Milo the prize fighter was born! I have been trying for weeks to upload a video that they took but can't get it to work, so a picture will have to do. The victim in the photo is uncle Sean. No wonder the kid loves his aunties and uncles so much!
