Sombreros and Toothbrushes

The other night, we went out to dinner to celebrate my aunt Kaye's birthday. We went to one of those Mexican restaurants that makes the birthday person wear a sombrero while the entire restaurant sings Happy Birthday. Milo got to try on the hat even though it wasn't his birthday!

Oh, and he LOVED his enchiladas! Must have been all that Mexican food I ate when I was pregnant!

In other news, a couple days ago Milo was in the bathroom with me while I was brushing my teeth. He opened a drawer and took out a small bottle of something, put it in his mouth, and started brushing his teeth with it! It was the cutest thing! I gave him one of my extra toothbrushes so he didn't ingest whatever was in the bottle, and he put it right in his mouth and continued the brushing movement. You could tell that he was so proud of himself! And, of course, I was so proud that I ran to Target that afternoon to get him his own toothbrush. When I gave it to him, he was so excited! He walked around the house (and outside) brushing his teeth, and would not put it down!

Easter 2009

I just uploaded pictures from Milo's Easter egg hunt and wanted to include a slide show with this post, but can't for the life of me figure out how to do it. Best I can do is the slideshow to the right, so just bear with me (this blog is so amateur compared to some that I have seen, and I am the first to admit it!). In any event, we weren't sure how well Milo would catch on to the concept of the egg hunt, but he was a pro and had a blast!

After the egg hunt, we went out for a delicious brunch with my sisters, Ryanne's fiance Sean, our Aunt Kaye, cousin Adam, and Adam's son Ashton. After that we visited Tod's sister Kendra and her family and then spent the afternoon dozing in and out while watching the Master's. Great day!

Our Little Twins Fan!

Tonight my sister Meghan and I took Milo to his first Twins game of the year. Meg took a picture of Milo with her camera phone and emailed it to the Twins fan site, which then chooses a number of photos to be displayed on the Jumbotron during the game. We never saw Milo's picture on the Jumbotron, but we did find it on the Twins website when we got home. Can you find him? http://twins.fanchatter.com/galleries/2039083273

If not, try this one: http://twins.fanchatter.com/public_photos/1958668127, or just see below:

We had a great time at the game, even though we didn't stay long enough to see the Twins pull off the win in the bottom of the 11th (it was waaaaay past someone's bed time). Milo especially enjoyed Aunt Meggie's root beer float!

Milo's First Rush "Concert"

Forgive the double-post today. It seems that when I finally get the time to update our blog, there's always more than one thing to talk about!

Those of you who know my husband know that Rush is his favorite band. And it should be no surprise that he wants Milo to love Rush too (Tod will tell you that Milo's middle name--Sawyer--is in honor of the Rush song "Tom Sawyer," although that's not how Milo's mom sees it). So the other day when he was flipping channels and noticed Rush's R30 concert on TV, he took the opportunity to introduce Milo to the band! Milo seemed pretty in to it, even bobbing his head to some of the songs! It was really cute to see my two boys bonding like that!

Florida 2009

Last week we took a trip to Orlando to visit Tod's parents. We had a great time, and the weather couldn't have been better! Milo was a very good boy on both plane rides, and now says "airplane" and points out every plane he sees in the sky.

Milo is still a little too young to enjoy the theme parks, so we just took in the sights around Disney. We went shopping at Downtown Disney, took the boats and monorail around Bay Lake, went on many walks at Fort Wilderness with Papa Tom and Gramma Kris, watched the evening fireworks and light show, and spent time at the pool.

Speaking of pools, it seems that our little guy is not very fond of them. He was perfectly happy being AT the pool, but wanted nothing to do with going IN it. He walked around and around the pool, pointing to it and saying "wa wa," but the second anyone started bringing him towards the water, he'd hold on with a death grip. Perhaps it could be that he remembered his very first dip in a pool--this very same pool--when he was 8 weeks old:

The water was much colder last year.

By the end of the trip Milo had warmed up enough to sit at the edge with his feet in the water, but we weren't going to press our luck. We will have plenty of opportunities to work on that this summer at the Lake!

While we were in Florida, we also got to see Milo's great great aunt and uncle, Mary and Rocco, as well as Tod's brother Tim. Tod and I also got to sneak away one evening for a quick trip to Tampa for a fun dinner with our dear friends Carrie and Carlos.

Now its back to the cold North, where spring just can't make up her mind. One day she's here, and the next it is freezing rain, or worse, snowing! Fortunately it has warmed up enough that the snow doesn't stay on the ground for more than a couple hours, but we sure would love it if the spring temperatures could come back for good!

Milo's favorite new toy--the big brush Gramma Kris uses to wash her car!

He seriously wouldn't put that brush down!

Underwater Adventures!

Yesterday I took Milo and his cousin Sydney to the Underwater Adventures Aquarium at the Mall of America. Milo loved seeing all of the turtles, fish, sharks, stingrays, sea horses and other underwater creatures, but his favorite part was probably playing on the pirate ship jungle gym at the end of the tour! Syd and Milo had so much fun together, and afterwards we checked out the American Girl store, where Sydney got me up to speed on all of the different dolls and their accessories. All I have to say is that I hope Milo's next sibling is another boy because I don't think I'm ready for all that!

I've Seen Better Days

Milo has seen better days than the last few days. He had the sniffles on Monday, but nothing too worrisome. Then Tuesday we noticed that his eyes were kind of puffy and his sniffles had turned into a full-blown (and nasty!) runny nose. By Wednesday his eyes were so goopy that when he woke up from his nap, one of his eyes was glued shut! Took him to the doctor, and sure enough, our third ear infection since November and an eye infection on top of that. After just two doses of antibiotics he seems to be doing much better, but check out this pre-antibiotics photo:

Poor little guy!

Hopefully we'll have some much cuter (and happier) photos very soon!
